Ms. Royalty recently caught up with Cory Gunz to get his opinion on the Voice Of Hope campaign called “Fathers In America“. The mission of the campaign is to bring an end to the absent father phenomenon. More info on “Fathers In America” can be found below:
In recent generations, the role of a father has been viewed as an optional role. This is a topic most times only discussed once a year during fathers’ day but we forget that the impact of not growing up with a father isn’t seasonal and also the impact it has on the economy of the country because in 2006 the federal government spent an estimated $99.8 billion in providing assistance to father absent families.
Hence, we decided to not only look at the effects from the points of view from those affected by absent fathers but discussing topics that reaches the root of this problem such as; how family values have changed over the years, teenage pregnancy, maturity, child support, break-ups as well as other aspects we looked into to give us and the viewers the ability to understand fathers in our society today and how in a general term, stronger family values could result to a better economy.
We would also be highlighting and recognizing fathers that are present in their children’s lives, honoring them for being great role models.
The Campaign would be providing free counseling services to absent fathers as a guide to reconcile their relationships not only with the mother of their child but also with the child to help bring an end to the absent father phenomenon.
We would also be putting together a weekend of events in honor of Fathers day with the purpose of Reconciling families, RELO (REconciling Loved Ones) Weekend would take place June 8th — June 10th the weekend before Fathers Day (June 17th).
We have had several influential voices speak on the issue such as; Ms.Kine (President of the Konfidence foundation, mother to Grammy award nominee Akon), Polow Da Don (Renown producer and songwriter that has produced hits for artists such as Usher and Rhianna), Cory Gunz (Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records artist), Genevieve Nnaji (Africa’s top actress), Gloria Govan (Basket-Ball Wives LA), Maurice (Love & Hip Hop Season 1 & 2)
